1. About Bontello

Bontello (“we”, “us”, “our”) is operated by Bontello, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) registered in the Netherlands (KvK 95851488). We provide a collection of free online business tools at bontello.com.

2. Free Tools

All tools are available for free with no account required. The free tier includes unlimited invoicing (with a Bontello watermark) and up to 3 saved clients. Tools run entirely in your browser — we do not upload, process, or store any files or content you create. Free-tier data is stored locally in your browser.

3. Pro Subscription

Pro is an optional paid subscription at €12.00 per month (or €99.00 per year) that removes ads, unlocks custom branding, provides cloud data storage, and includes the full freelancer back-office. A 14-day free trial is available.

• Billing: Charged monthly via Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically until cancelled.
• Cancellation: You can cancel at any time through the Stripe Billing Portal (accessible via “Manage Pro” in the navigation bar). After cancellation, you retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period. Your cloud backup data is retained for 90 days after the subscription ends, during which you can download it from the Pro Account page. After 90 days, cloud data is permanently deleted.
• Account-based access: Pro status is tied to your account. Log in on any device to access your Pro features.
• Communications: By subscribing, you agree to receive transactional emails related to your account (billing confirmations, service disruptions, security alerts). We may also send product updates and new feature announcements; you can opt out of non-essential communications at any time from your Pro Account page or by contacting us.

4. Cloud Data Storage & Data Portability

Pro subscribers benefit from cloud data storage. Your business data (business profile, saved clients, invoice history, expenses, time entries, quotes, templates, and other saved preferences) is stored in our PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase in the EU. The database is the authoritative source for authenticated users — your data is accessible from any device once you log in.

• Data ownership: You retain full ownership of all data you store through our service.
• Export: You can export all your data at any time as a JSON file from the Pro Account page, fulfilling your GDPR right to data portability (Art. 20).
• Retention after cancellation: Cloud backup data is retained for 90 days after your subscription ends. During this period you can still download your data. After 90 days, cloud data is automatically and permanently deleted.
• Deletion requests: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Pro Account page (Danger Zone section). Alternatively, you can request deletion by emailing [email protected]. We will process your request within 30 days.

5. Refund Policy

Under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (Directive 2011/83/EU), you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of purchase. To request a refund within this period, email us at [email protected] with your purchase email address.

Refunds are processed via Stripe to your original payment method. After the 14-day withdrawal period, you can still cancel your subscription at any time, but no refund will be issued for the current billing period.

6. Intellectual Property

Your content: You retain full ownership of all content you create using our tools (invoices, policies, QR codes, etc.). We claim no rights over your generated content.

Our service: The Bontello website, branding, and tool code are our intellectual property. You may not copy, redistribute, or reverse-engineer our tools.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Bontello to:

• Generate illegal, fraudulent, or misleading content
• Abuse, overload, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure
• Attempt to circumvent Pro subscription requirements or access controls
• Scrape, crawl, or automatically extract data from the site

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations.

8. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

Our tools are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that generated content (invoices, policies, etc.) meets your specific legal or business requirements. You are responsible for reviewing all output before use.

To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law, Bontello shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in your district of residence, in accordance with EU consumer protection rules.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
